VfB head coach Christian Gross: "I was very satisfied with the first half. We did just what we had set out to do. In the second half we should have scored a third goal, then we would have taken all three points! The pressure by Bremen got too much for us then though. I don't know if it was a penalty."
VfB midfielder Sami Khedira: "With a win we could have closed the gap on the teams above us but that just wasn't to be today. We will need to pick up points in the coming week if we are to maintain our minimal chance of making a Europa League qualifying place."
VfB midfielder Aliaksandr Hleb: "We played very well during periods of the game today but in the second half we failed to decide the tie in our favour. We made a number of simple mistakes which gave Bremen a boost."
