Thousands of fans turned out on Monday to see VfB begin their preparations for the 2017/2018 Bundesliga season. 4,000 White-Red supporters turned up at the Robert-Schlienz-Stadion on Monday evening to watch coach Hannes Wolf’s men go through their first team session. "I’d like to thank the fans for coming to our first training session. That’s massively motivating. I want to do my very best for VfB," commented new signing Anastasios Donis. Along with Orel Mangala, the Greek international was one of two new-men involved in the training start.
And the fans were not only treated to the sight of the latest personnel additions, but they also saw the VfB pros in action in their new "Workwear" for the coming season – the new white home kit and the away shirts in red. Within the framework of the first training session, amongst others, VfB president Wolfgang Dietrich, head-coach Hannes Wolf, captain Christian Gentner and team-manager Günther Schäfer all took the microphone to answer some questions and chat with stadium announcer Holger Laser. There was also a very special VfB fan at the event in World and Olympic Ski-Jumping champion Carina Vogt.
Following the first official training session, the players then took plenty of time to fulfil the countless autograph and selfie requests. The Cannstatt Boys continue their preparations on Tuesday, when Christian Gentner & Co. take to the VfB club grounds at 10:30 CET.
