VfB Stuttgart have extended the contract with Erik Thommy, which had initially been valid until June 30th, 2020, for a further two years, until June 30th, 2022. Erik Thommy joined VfB from FC Augsburg in January 2018 and has since made 15 competitive appearances for the Cannstatt Boys, scoring two goals and providing six assists.
VfB Sporting Director Michael Reschke:
"In opting to extend this contract ahead of time, we are duly taking into account the extremely positive sporting development of Erik Thommy. His development is not yet completed. He has the potential to evolve further and can prove a vitally important element of our squad in the coming years. Aside from his exceptional sporting ability, Erik is also extremely ambitious and has an absolutely professional attitude."
Erik Thommy: "So far, it has been a very intensive time here at VfB for me. I have felt very much at home here from the very first minute and I am very thankful to the club for the fate they have placed in me by opting to prematurely extend my contract. I intend to pay back that faith in the coming years and play my part in assisting the continued positive development of VfB. I am very much looking forward to wearing the VfB jersey in the future and enjoying every minute of the wonderful support of our fans, both away from home, and naturally, above all, in the Mercedes-Benz Arena."
