During the course of the current season, there have been plenty of reasons for VfB to celebrate at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, with the White-Reds claiming 28 of their 39 points on their own turf. The tally puts coach Tayfun Korkut’s side in sixth place in the home-table. On the most successful occasions in Stuttgart, it was often the interaction between the team on the pitch and the fans in the Arena that helped keep the opponents in check. The White-Red fateful were naturally always behind captain Christian Gentner & Co. every step of the way.
An average of approximately 56,000 spectators have watched the fifteen games in the Mercedes-Benz Arena so far this season – putting VfB in fourth place in the Bundesliga attendance rankings behind FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04. And the Cannstatt Boys will maintain that position through to the end of the season. This Saturday’s clash with SV Werder Bremen (kick-off 15:30 CET), as well as the home game against TSG Hoffenheim on May 5th, are already completely sold-out. In total, seven of VfB’s 17 matches in the Mercedes-Benz Arena throughout this season will then have been played in front of capacity crowds.
