Jérôme Onguéné is making a permanent move to the club where he has been on loan, with the defender committing his future to RB Salzburg. Last season, the full-back celebrated the Austrian championship win with the Salzburg club and made it through to the semi-finals in the Europa League. In 20 appearances, the Frenchman scored five goals.
He made the move to VfB in 2017 and opted for a loan transfer to the Austrian club last August. The defender wore the jersey with the infamous red hoop twice, in the 'Regionalliga Südwest'.
Sporting Director Michael Reschke: "Jérôme got some regular football with RB Salzburg over the past few months and recommended himself for a long-term contract with his performances. For a player of his age, match practice is particularly important and at VfB, it would be difficult for him to get the playing time he needs. The transfer is the best solution for all parties. We wish Jérôme all the very best for his future."
