VfB Stuttgart have extended their collaboration with one of the club’s most talented young hopefuls. Timo Baumgartl signed an extension to his contract to keep him at the club until June 30th, 2018. The 18-year-old defender made his Bundesliga debut this season and has since then made seven appearances in the shirt with the infamous red hoop in the top-flight. In 2013, the youngster was a German championship winner with VfB’s U17 selection.
„We are delighted to have extended the deal with Timo. In spite of being just 18 years old, he managed to gather some experience on a high level in the third division, before successfully taking the leap into Bundesliga football. Timo is a home-grown talent and a wonderful example as to how the development of a young player through the youth teams and the reserves, on into the professional squad can work,” explained VfB Director of Sport Robin Dutt, adding: „We will continue to keep a close eye on Timo and encourage what is best for his development.“
Timo Baumgartl himself is absolutely delighted about having pledged his future to VfB Stuttgart: „Here we have the ideal basic conditions for a young player. I want to continue learning and establish myself in the Bundesliga.“
