“Sustainability is an important part of our strategic focus,” said Alexander Wehrle, VfB Stuttgart CEO. “After the initial sustainClub certification, we set ourselves the target of improving our sustainability performance enough to earn the gold award. It was an intense process, and one which has entrenched sustainability even more firmly in VfB. We are delighted with the significant improvement and the subsequent achievement of the top sustainClub standard. We will not be resting on our laurels, however. We want to use our sustainable operations to make an impact both on VfB and throughout society, and we have already set ourselves the next ambitious sustainability goals, which will be communicated transparently.”
