It only took Fritz Walter four minutes to open his account for VfB in his very first match for the club, and with his skills, strength and lightning-fast reactions, plenty more goals were to follow. The high point of Walter’s sporting career came in the 1991/92 season, which he finished as top scorer in the Bundesliga with 22 goals as he fired Stuttgart to the league title. The former striker bid farewell to the club at the end of the 1993/94 season as only he could, scoring all three goals in a win over Dynamo Dresden.
After stints at Bielefeld and Ulm, Walter came back to Stuttgart in 1999 after ending his playing career. Since then, the long-time member of the VfB Legends team has been a regular guest at home games.
