Wednesday 27 January 2021 marks the 76th anniversary of the day on which the survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp were liberated by the Red Army. It is an occasion to remember the victims, the survivors and their families with humility and respect. The mandate that there "Never Again" be another Auschwitz is and remains an obligation for all subsequent generations.
During a wreath-laying ceremony, VfB president Claus Vogt, CEO Thomas Hitzlsperger and the chairman of the club's advisory board, Wolf-Dietrich Erhard, came together with Dr. Michael Blume, state commissioner against antisemitism, and Mihail Rubinstein, member of the representative office of the Jewish Religious Community of Württemberg (IRGW), for a silent commemoration. Unfortunately, a memorial service as in previous years could not be held this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
