In addition to the Korean target market, where VfB has already held successful football camps in cooperation with partners Porsche Korea and the ISEA (International Sports Exchange Association), the focus of the club’s internationalisation strategy is the USA, where football clinics have now also taken place.
A core element of VfB’s global strategy involves highly qualified VfB youth coaches putting on football clinics for children and coaches. The objective is for both the club and the German Football League to establish relationships in key target markets around the world. With a view to the upcoming 2026 World Cup, the USA is of particular interest because it offers great potential in several areas of youth development and club activation.
The purpose of the camps in the USA was to bring VfB’s academy philosophy to a wider audience. From New York and New Jersey to North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida, VfB coaches travelled along the East Coast and, across six camps, helped over 250 boys and girls – aged seven to 17 – and numerous coaches expand their knowledge of football and tactics.
By working with our partners, the German American Kickers and FOX Soccer, the highly qualified coaches were able to make the most of established networks and further improve the quality of training. Thanks to these partnerships, we can impart a deeper understanding of the values and methods of our club, which ultimately enhances the participants’ football experience in the USA.
In addition to the training sessions and coach education, another no less important aim was to strengthen VfB’s brand awareness and reach in North America.
