The Bundesliga 2 team carved out some good chances in the early stages but VfB keeper Fabian Bredlow proved equal to the task, pulling off some impressive saves. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s men then took command and the goals followed soon after.
Philipp Förster (22') and Gonzalo Castro (33') gave VfB a 2-0 half-time lead, then after the break, Daniel Didavi (63’), Pascal Stenzel (76'), Wataru Endo (84') and Nicolas Gonzalez all found the back of the net to make the final scoreline 6-1.
VfB head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo: "It's just the first week of pre-season training and we decided to really focus on the attack during that week, and we came up with some good solutions to the tasks in hand. The other aim we had today was to remain compact, close down the spaces and the counter with pace, and we also managed to do that well. Now we need to keep it up."
