VfB Stuttgart passed their first test of pre-season with flying colours, producing a dominant performance in front of 4,500 spectators to defeat amateur team SV Böblingen 7-1 in Saturday’s JAKO-sponsored friendly.
VfB head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo: “It was a successful first test in a great atmosphere with a lot of spectators, and against a team that didn’t just sit back and defend but also played football bravely. We only started training a week ago, so of course not everything worked out in detail yet. But I was pleased with the commitment our players showed.”
Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side will continue their pre-season preparations in Stuttgart next week before departing for their training camp in the Allgäu region on 9 July. They face Swiss outfit FC Zürich in Friedrichshafen on the day of their arrival (kick-off 17:30 CEST) before playing Brentford at the same venue a week later (15:00 CEST).
