Jérôme Onguéné is Austria bound – initially – where the defender is set to play with the current Austrian champions and cup title holders FC Red Bull Salzburg until the end of this season. The Frenchman made the move to Cannstatt in January of this year from FC Sochaux, with whom he made 45 ‘Ligue 2’ appearances. Since then, the centre-half has made two appearances in the ‘Regionalliga Südwest’ (fourth division) for the VfB reserves. Jérôme Onguéné is hoping to pick up some regular match practice in Salzburg during the course of the current season.
Michael Reschke, Sporting Director at VfB Stuttgart:
"For a young player like Jérôme, there is nothing more important than match practice. The opportunity to play regularly is massively increased by this loan deal. We will be keeping a very careful eye on Jérome’s progression."
