Intensive exchanges after the Bundesliga game away to Hannover 96 were concluded with the decision being made to part company with Tayfun Korkut, as well as his assistant coaches Ilija Aracic and Steven Cherundolo, with immediate effect.
For the meantime, responsibility for the professional team will be assumed by Andreas Hinkel, Matthias Schiffers (athletic coach), goalkeeper coach Marco Langner and Andreas Schumacher (Youth Performance Center - NLZ).
Sporting director Michael Reschke: "The absence of sporting development during the course of the season and the negative results triggered us to take this step. Tayfun Korkut took charge of the team in a very difficult situation last season and secured our top-flight status early on, with an exceptional run. For that, we are extremely thankful to him and his assistant coaches Ilija Aracic and Steven Cherundolo."
President Wolfgang Dietrich: "This was a very difficult decision for us to make. After the positive developments of last season, we were confident to continue that trend with Tayfun Korkut as head-coach in the new season. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Above all else, our responsibility is VfB Stuttgart and the club’s sporting future. We wish Tayfun Korkut all the very best for his future."
