The move brings to an end a four-and-a-half-year spell at VfB for the 30-year-old defender, who arrived at the club in summer 2015 and made his debut on 8 August that year in the DFB Cup at Holstein Kiel. Insua was handed his first Bundesliga appearance for VfB a week later against 1. FC Köln, one of 33 top-flight outings he made in 2015/16, along with four DFB Cup matches.
Sporting director Sven Mislintat: “Emiliano has always conducted himself in an extremely professional manner, even recently when he hasn’t been playing much. He wants to play regularly and therefore approached us requesting to leave VfB in the winter transfer period if any suitable offers came in. As soon as he’s agreed the last few details with his new club, the transfer will be completed. We wish Emiliano and his family all the best for the future.”
