The former Germany youth international (eight U-21 caps) has made 65 Bundesliga appearances for Freiburg to date, scoring two goals, as well as five outings in the DFB Cup. During the 2018/19 season, the 23-year-old featured 21 times in the league for the Breisgau club.
Stenzel originally joined Freiburg on loan from Borussia Dortmund in January 2016 and made 11 league appearances in the second half of the 2015/16 season as the team earned promotion to the top flight.
He also made his professional debut during his time as a youngster at Borussia Dortmund (2013-2015).
