Gonzalez out for several weeks

Nicolas Gonzalez suffered a muscle tear in his hip during Saturday’s friendly against Racing Strasbourg. The 22-year-old is expected to be out of action for between four and six weeks.

The Argentina international was forced off in the 41st minute of the 4-2 win against the French top-flight side.

Sporting director Sven Mislintat: “It’s crushing news for Nico and obviously for us as well, because Nico has an important role in our plans for the forthcoming season. At the same time, we have great confidence in the players in our squad who will occupy Nico’s position over the coming weeks.”
