VfL Wolfsburg: Sunday’s opponents by numbers

VfB return to action on Sunday at VfL Wolfsburg, where they’ve not had much joy in recent years. We’ve crunched the numbers on the Wolves.

1
Having gone 11 games unbeaten at the start of the season, VfL suffered their first defeat of the campaign on Wednesday when they went down 2-1 at Bayern Munich.

2
In Josip Brekalo (2017) and Daniel Ginczek (2014-2018), the Wolves have two former VfB players in their ranks.

4
The Lower Saxony outfit have won their last four home games, scoring 11 goals and conceding six.

6
The Wolves are one of six Bundesliga clubs yet to taste defeat on home soil this season. As well as those four victories, the Green-and-Whites have also drawn twice at the Volkswagen Arena.

9
Dutchman Wout Weghorst has scored nine times in 12 Bundesliga appearances – nearly 50 per cent of Wolfsburg’s 19 league goals so far this term.

12
Wolfsburg have won 10 of their previous 12 home meetings with VfB, drawing the other two.
