Tiago Tomás was in action for Sporting on Saturday evening, helping them win the Portuguese League Cup with victory over SL Benfica. The 19-year-old striker joins on an initial loan until 30 June 2023, with VfB having the option to make the move permanent.
VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat:
“We’ve been following Tiago’s development for a long time. He brings a lot of qualities that will give us more options in attacking areas. Tiago won the Portuguese title with Sporting last season and won the League Cup very recently. He has also played in the Champions League and proven his qualities there as well. We’re very happy that he has chosen VfB and welcome him to Stuttgart with open arms.”
Tiago Tomás:
“I’m very happy to be here. VfB are a club with great history – one of the biggest in Germany. The Bundesliga is a very demanding league and I’ll try to do my best to help my new team.”
