Centre-back Anthony Rouault has joined VfB on loan from Ligue 1 club FC Toulouse. The right-footed 22-year-old made 86 competitive appearances (six goals, two assists) for the French outfit after coming through the club’s youth ranks. He will wear the number 29 shirt at VfB.
Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “We’re convinced Anthony has all the qualities needed to quickly establish himself in the Bundesliga. He has already played numerous games at senior level in France and gained key experience in the process, but at 22 he also has room to improve. We’re pleased Anthony has opted for VfB and offer him a warm welcome to the club.”
Anthony Rouault: “I’m really pleased to be at VfB. After my time in France, I’m starting a new chapter here in the Bundesliga. I’m looking forward to getting to know my coach and team-mates and want to help the club achieve their aims. I’ve heard many good things about the atmosphere at VfB’s home games and I’m obviously aware that my compatriot Benjamin Pavard blossomed into an international player here.”
