Wooyeong Jeong moved from his native South Korea to Bayern Munich’s youth academy in January 2018. After featuring for the record German champions’ U19s, U21s and first team, the attacker completed a transfer to SC Freiburg, where he made 84 of his 85 Bundesliga appearances to date, scoring ten goals and providing four assists.
He also made 11 DFB Cup outings for the Black Forest outfit, and a further five in the UEFA Europa League, registering one goal and an assist. Jeong played in one UEFA Champions League game for Bayern and another in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old will wear the number 10 jersey for VfB.
Fabian Wohlgemuth:
“We’re delighted that Wooyeong will be wearing our jersey in the future. His abilities will lend greater variety to our attacking play, while his ambitious nature and team-first attitude make him a great addition for us. And last but not least, despite his relatively young age he already has considerable Bundesliga experience.”
Wooyeong Jeong:
“VfB have a good team and I believe this transfer is the right step for me. I’ve already played in Stuttgart a few times so I know how good the atmosphere is in the stadium. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to come here and now I’m really pleased to be here and to play for VfB.”
