Deniz Undav has joined VfB with immediate effect. The 27-year-old comes to Stuttgart from English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. The striker, who was born in Germany in the town of Varel, near Oldenburg, scored eight goals in 30 competitive games for the Seagulls last season.
Prior to his time in England, Undav laced his boots for Belgian top-flight side Royale Union Saint Gilloise, registering 45 goals and 18 assists in 70 outings.
He will wear the number 26 jersey at VfB.
VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “In Deniz, we’re getting a player who has demonstrated his qualities in different countries and leagues, most recently in the Premier League. He’s at the perfect age for a footballer and will adapt to the Bundesliga quickly. We’re delighted Deniz chose to come to VfB and we welcome him warmly to Stuttgart.”
Deniz Undav: “I’m over the moon to be playing in the Bundesliga. VfB made a lot of effort to sign me, so I knew quickly that I wanted to come here. The discussions with the coach were very good and I’m looking forward to getting started with the team.”
