VfB have completed a season-long loan deal for 22-year-old attacking player Jamie Leweling from Union Berlin. Leweling learned his trade at the youth academies of 1. FC Nürnberg and Greuther Fürth, where he went on to establish himself as a Bundesliga player. The ten-time Germany U21 international joined Union Berlin last season, making 16 appearances in the Bundesliga, seven in the UEFA Europa League and two in the DFB Cup. He has made 49 top-flight appearances to date (registering six goals and three assists) as well as 46 outings in the second division (four goals, three assists).
