No need for alarm... In Sunday afternoon’s friendly with Ajax, which ended in a 2-2 draw, Dutch midfielder Davy Klaassen lost his footing around the hour mark and ended up taking out Atakan Karazor, who was immediately substituted. “I’m fine, nothing to worry about. As I jogged back to the bench and put some weight on my foot, I could feel straight away that everything was OK. Davy and I shook hands straight away afterwards,” said the VfB captain, highlighting that there was no acrimony in the slightest between the two players.
Karazor was quick to take the positives out of the friendly. “We started off well and we can be really pleased with the first half,” the midfielder said. After the break, VfB maintained their shape throughout and always looked for solutions – even when they found themselves under pressure from the opposition. “What’s important now is to carry on training intensively while still trying to keep fresh legs so that we get to Augsburg in just the right shape,” the captain explained, looking ahead to Sunday’s Bundesliga clash, adding: “We always have a good number of fans who make the trip to Augsburg so I’m really looking forward to the match.”
