A warm welcome back, Jacob. It’s great to see you wearing the shirt with the hoop across the chest again. How does it feel to be back at VfB?
Jacob: “It feels really good. I’m so pleased to be back here, see some familiar faces and to play at the MHP Arena soon.”
How would you assess your first spell at the club?
Jacob: “I had a very enlightening spell at VfB, both in sporting terms and on a personal level. It was a very important step for me at the time. VfB have been on a good journey and have continued to improve. I’ve been following that. From the outside, you get the impression that a lot of things are working well at VfB, including with the fans at the stadium. The atmosphere was already special back then, but I think it’s even better these days. It’s really great to be here.”
You probably won’t need long to introduce yourself – you’ve known some of the players a really long time.
Jacob: “I know many of the players. I’ve already played with eight or nine of the lads, either in the first team, at youth level or internationally. They’re a relatively young team who play outstanding football and have enormous quality. They have proven themselves time after time against big-name opponents recently. I’m really looking forward to meeting them all and being part of the VfB family again.”
What role did Sebastian Hoeneß play in your move?
Jacob: “We’ve known each other a long time and have kept in touch from time to time, which obviously makes things that little bit easier.”
At TSG Hoffenheim, you recently scored the winner against Leipzig and a late equaliser in the draw against Dortmund. Are you looking to pick up where you left off for VfB?
Jacob: “Definitely. I always try to give my all, no matter whether I’m starting or coming off the bench. That’s what sets me apart. I’m feeling good, I’m fit and I’m looking forward to my first goal in a VfB shirt.”
