Stergiou banned for two games

VfB defender Leonidas Stergiou has been handed a two-match Bundesliga suspension by the DFB after the 23-year-old was sent off at Holstein Kiel on Saturday.

Leonidas Stergiou caught Kiel striker Steven Skrzybski with a mistimed challenge after 52 minutes of Saturday’s 2-2 draw, leading referee Bastian Dankert to show the VfB defender a straight red card.

The German Football Association (DFB) handed Stergiou a two-match Bundesliga suspension on Monday, meaning he will miss VfB’s home game against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday 16 March and the trip to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday 29 March.
