Merci, Anthony!

Anthony Rouault has left VfB Stuttgart to join Stade Rennes in his native France.

After 52 competitive appearances for VfB Stuttgart, Anthony Rouault is saying “au revoir”. The French defender has opted to return to his native France and link up with Brittany-based Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennes.

Rouault joined VfB in summer 2023 – initially on loan – from FC Toulouse. He enjoyed a successful first season in Bad Cannstatt, making 22 Bundesliga appearances for the club and helping VfB secure a runners-up spot. The 23-year-old also helped Sebastian Hoeneß’s charges qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Fabian Wohlgemuth, board member for sport: “Anthony Rouault’s performances have helped us continue the successful journey we’ve been on in recent months. He has now informed us of his wish to continue his career in his home country with Stade Rennes. We’ve agreed to this as Anthony has always behaved impeccably and because this transfer meets our financial demands.”

Anthony Rouault: “I’m leaving VfB with many wonderful memories. We’ve been able to experience an incredible number of special and successful moments together over the past one and a half years. I’m grateful that I was able to be part of this journey and enjoy an extremely positive time in Stuttgart. I wish the club, my team-mates and all the fans nothing but the best for the future. Merci, VfB!”

VfB would like to thank the defender for his commitment during a successful spell at the club and wishes him all the best for the future. Merci, Anthony!
