VfB start the new Bundesliga season with a trip to SC Freiburg on either Saturday 24 or Sunday 25 August, following the opening match between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen on Friday 23 August.
First home game against Mainz
A week later, head coach Sebastian Hoeneß’s side play their first Bundesliga game at the MHP Arena. The opponents on the weekend of 30 August to 1 September are Mainz 05. After the first international break of the new season, it continues for VfB with the away match at Borussia Mönchengladbach from 13 to 15 September, followed by the home clash against Borussia Dortmund on the weekend of 20 to 22 September.
