Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “I'm very pleased with the first half. It was important to seize the initiative early on and to score the first and second goals. It would have been good to get a third one before half-time – we had the chances to do so. The second half was more of a mixed bag because we didn't put away our chances. Overall, we deserved to win the game and so we did what we had to do tonight."
Deniz Undav: “That was a thoroughly deserved win for us. Unfortunately, we didn’t score a third goal [sooner]. We need to work on our chance conversion. We didn’t give much away at the back. At the end of the day, our game plan paid off and we picked up three very important points away from home.”
Jamie Leweling: “That was a really important game for us today. I’m pleased we were able to win away from home and we deserved to do so. My first Champions League goals for VfB mean a lot to me. Now we’re looking forward to facing PSG at home.”
