Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “It was clear there was a lot at stake for both teams today. We didn’t start well and didn’t create enough chances. We had our best spell from around the 25-minute mark until half-time, which is when we scored our goal. I admire the players for the way they defended everything outside of that period. It was clearly a mature performance. The team showed great character on the pitch. We’re very pleased with the win – reaching the DFB Cup semi-finals is a huge success. Congratulations to the team. It’s a dream come true – and now we want to reach Berlin together.”
Deniz Undav: “It’s a great success and good to be back on track after three defeats. It was a strong performance from everybody in terms of fighting spirit, so compliments to the whole team. That was precisely the attitude and spirit we needed today. We’ve achieved our goal of reaching the next round. We’re very happy about that and it was nice to be able to celebrate a win with the fans again.”
Jeff Chabot: “We’re through to the next round, which is the most important thing. We’re also pleased that we didn’t concede a goal and generally defended with great focus. One goal decided the game, which is typical for a cup tie. It wasn’t an easy game. We went into challenges with passion and conviction, which was the foundation for the win today. The victory does us good and helps us continue to get back on track.”
