Jacob Bruun Larsen has joined VfB Stuttgart for the second time in his career. Following his spell on loan at the club in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign, the attacker has now arrived on a permanent contract valid until 30 June 2027. The Denmark international will wear the number 25 jersey for Sebastian Hoeneß’s team.
Jacob Bruun Larsen: “I have very positive memories of my first time in Stuttgart. As a young player I was able to gain valuable experiences and get to know the club and their extraordinary fans. For that reason I’m looking forward to playing for VfB again all the more. I want to play my part in us being successful together.”
Fabian Wohlgemuth, board member for sport: “Jacob can play in a number of positions in attack. He knows the Bundesliga, has international experience and was at VfB as a young player. Jacob’s style of play and mentality make him very well suited to us and our style of play. We’re pleased that the transfer could be finalised and we welcome Jacob warmly to VfB.”
Bruun Larsen was born on 19 September 1998 in Lyngby, Denmark, and progressed through the youth ranks at Lyngby BK. He joined Borussia Dortmund at the age of 16 and went on to make 41 first-team appearances between 2015 and 2020, registering three goals and five assists. It was during that time that he had a first spell in Stuttgart during the second half of the 2017/18 season.
He had been on TSG Hoffenheim’s books since 2020, contributing eight goals and five assists across 76 competitive outings for the club. Bruun Larsen also had two stints on loan during his time at Hoffenheim: in 2020/21 he played 19 times for Belgian side RSC Anderlecht, producing two goals and two assists, and in 2023/24 he made 36 appearances for English side Burnley FC, scoring seven times.
The Denmark international has seven caps and one goal for his country so far, and was part of the squad at the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
