As part of the Bundesliga’s internationalisation activities, VfB supports various sports and social inclusion projects across the world, including in Kenya, Japan and Brazil, where the VfB Foundation ‘Brustring der Herzen’ supports the work of Cacau’s ‘Instituto Sementinha’ organisation.
The project aims to strengthen the personal rights of young people in need by providing them with a safe place to study and play, and giving them access to sport and culture. A few days before Christmas Eve, the Instituto held its Christmas party in Sao Paulo, which was attended by VfB brand ambassador Cacau.
The event, which was attended by approximately 180 children who were invited from the wider Sao Paulo area, was held on the ‘Instituto Sementinha’ premises in Mogis das Cruzes. It began with lunch together in the late morning, with games and other entertaining activities organised throughout the day. Everyone involved had a great time – including Cacau himself, who visits the Instituto several times a year to see the foundation’s work first hand.
In addition to giving a speech on the importance of sufficient exercise and a healthy diet, he handed out Christmas presents to the children.
Cacau: “The sparkle in the children’s eyes is something special”
Brazil is an important target market for VfB, which is why supporting ‘Instituto Sementinha’ has now been firmly integrated into the work of the VfB Foundation.
Brand ambassador Cacau is delighted with the Instituto’s success: “With this project we want to offer children in need new opportunities in life through sport and culture. The sparkle in their eyes is something special for me and shows how valuable the project is. I’m looking forward to continuing to make a difference with VfB and the ‘Brustring der Herzen’ in the coming years.”
