Pellegrino Matarazzo, VfB head coach: “We took a little while to get into the game and to find the gaps in front of and behind the Augsburg backline. We were really good around midway through the first half though, we did well there. I was very happy that we didn’t need long to settle ourselves again after Augsburg scored. Overall, it was a good display from us. I’m happy that we were able to win again.”
Gonzalo Castro: “We played out from the back well right from the first whistle, found the spaces quite quickly and had some good moves going forward, especially down the left, where they struggled to keep us in check. Our first two goals came from that side of the pitch. Those goals swung the game our way. I knew pretty quickly that I wasn’t offside for my goal.”
Waldemar Anton: “We played well and enjoyed that game. We found the spaces well, had some nice link-up play and were aggressive and gritty in the challenges. All in all we deserved to win, even if we could have maybe scored another goal. It was a deserved victory for us.”
