Match summary
Paris seized control of the game right from the off in front of 60,000 spectators at the MHP Arena. They took an early lead through the unmarked Bradley Barcola, who finished from close range following a corner.
Chance for Führich – Dembelé on target
Sebastian Hoeneß's charges looked wobbly against a mature PSG side and struggled to cope with their visitors' fast-paced build-up play. The away team doubled their advantage in the 17th minute via Ousmane Dembelé, just seconds after Gianluigi Donnarumma made a fine save to deny Chris Führich an equaliser.
Behind at the break
Dembelé got his second of the game in the 35th minute with a shot into the top-left corner, leaving VfB 3-0 down at the interval.
Führich pulls one back
VfB emerged for the second half with fire in their bellies, but conceded a fourth in the 54th minute as Dembelé completed his hat-trick. Hoeneß's side subsequently enjoyed more control of the game and scored a consolation through Führich in the closing stages (77').
That was all the visitors allowed VfB, however, as PSG ultimately proved to be too strong, with the result leaving the boys from Cannstatt 26th in the table and outside the play-off positions.
Goals
6th minute: Desire Doué flicks a corner on to the unmarked Barcola, who heads the ball in from close range.
17th minute: VfB get caught out on the break. Josha Vagnoman is unable to stop Barcola, who delivers an inch-perfect cross from the left into the middle for Dembelé to finish off. The goal is given after a VAR check.
35th minute: VfB's rearguard can't get to grips with PSG's link-up play and Dembelé finishes off the move with a shot into the top-left corner.
54th minute: Despite having enough men behind the ball, the VfB defence fail to deal with Achraf Hakimi and Dembelé, who scores his third of the night from around 15 metres out.
77th minute: Maximilian Mittelstädt plays a brilliant pass to Führich, who gets to the ball ahead of Willian Pacho and pokes it into the right-hand corner.
